Care advice

Anemos remains loyal in ethical trading at all times. We are searching and supporting local small businesses where the art of creating goods using old techniques are still followed. Our sandals supplier is manufacturing shoes in a village in Greece using a remarkable technique that stays the same through the years since the ancient times.

Not much have changed since then, in the way Greeks manufacture leather handmade shoes.

Walking the world in our sandals will feel as you have stepped back in time but feel the comfort of the 21st century.

We feel pride on our manufacturers’ careful selection and work and we hope you will, too, by wearing them.

The sandals are hand made from start to finish.

The top part of the sole is made of leather and the bottom part is made of rubber to make them as anti-slippery as possible in the humid and rainy weather of South East Asia . Our leather sandals get a beautiful dark color as time goes by; they also mold to your feet, since natural leather always gives and stretches out. The leather of our sandals, when exposed to sun light, starts getting darker which make every pair of sandals unique. Marks and texture over time are not a defect; they are a plus -it is your guarantee you are getting real and natural leather.

We use high quality calf only leathers tanned in the tanneries of Crete.

If your feet sweat a lot, do not wear the same sandals for two days in a row, let them dry completely before wearing them again. Natural leather is highly absorbent and sweat can soak them through! It might not be visible but your sweat can rich the core of your sandals.

Sandal care involves the following:

As with all natural leathers in our suede designs we would advise using a Suede protector to ensure they stay in the best condition possible.

To keep your sandals looking fresh avoid contact with water, oils, lotions and body creams. Substances such as these will cause staining.

Colour-fading over time is to be expected.

Avoid getting them wet in sea water, but if you do, rinse them with fresh water and let them dry, in room temperature -no heaters, no direct sunlight. Then apply the leather cream or regular baby oil. The cream or the baby oil will make them a bit softer again. Keep them away from puppies as well as some adult dogs (they love to chew on them!!!).
